"The film examines the efforts of the Learning Centre of the Montreal Children's Hospital to detect kindergarten and pre-school children who may have learning disabilities. Some children are not ready for school, even at the age of six. They seem 'unhatched'. Most of the time these children are not distinguished from their peers until a poor scholastic record indicates that something is wrong. If the problem of learning disabilities had been detected early enough, subsequent poor achievement might have been alleviated or even avoided with special training."
