"This film deals with the disappearance and gradual return of the great buffalo herds in western Canada and how the buffalo, once king of the western plains, was almost exterminated but have come back in the sanctuary of Canada's National Parks. Once the shaggy monsters roamed freely over the prairie in ecological balance with the native peoples living there. The arrival of white settlers and hunters reduced the number of buffalo to the point where they could scarcely be found outside the pages of a picture book. But now, protected by law, the buffalo has returned and is once more a mighty monarch of the plains."

"Une reconstitution historique de la destruction des troupeaux de bisons de l'ouest canadien et de la protection que le gouvernement leur a ensuite accordé par la création d'un parc national."
