"This film explains, step-by-step, the electrolytic refining of copper at Inco's Ontario Refining Company refinery at Copper Cliff, Ontario. Footage shows blister (99% pure) copper from the smelter being charged into an oil-fired reverberator anode furnace; the slag skimmed; the copper tapped, cast in anode form, cooled and placed in electrolytic tanks with pure copper cathodes; and the copper remelted in a direct arc furnace and recast in usable forms. The film also includes sequences on the formation and historical use of copper, on copper products and alloys, on the recovery of milled sulphate and precious metals, and a laboratory demonstration of electrolysis."
