"Designed to guide independent retailers to successfully improve business, this film illustrates the success of a jewellry store through the collaboration of a father and son. Using photographs from a scrapbook entitled 'Dad and I' to tell the story, the son explains the progress made by A. Gillies Jewellers & Son with the help of his merchandising skills. Focussing on improved displays, efficient and friendly customer service, direct mailing, local ads and other publicity, the son turns the fortunes of the store around. Soon the popular jewellers in competition, Clark, are noticing a reduction in sales and starting to pay attention to changes their competitor has implemented. The film was made from a 35mm black and white filmstrip and consists of a series of freeze-frames in succession."
