"Contrasts haphazard logging of the 19th century with the responsible forest products industry today. The story of Canada's west coast lumber industry - its scope and size, modern methods and uses. The film emphasizes the massive and continuous reforestation program: for every tree cut, four young tress are planted - an investment in the future."

“This is an award-winning film that captures the scope and colour of British Columbia’s forest industry. It illustrates the harvest of the province’s huge timber crop and follows the logs through the converting plants where they are manufactured into hundreds of useful articles: lumber, plywood, shingles, pulp, paper, and containers. It demonstrates that the forests of British Columbia, while producing vast quantities of these products, are constantly restored to produce again for future generations. The Perpetual Harvest won the Gold Medal for photography at the Sixth International Film and Television Festival of New York, the Canadian Film Award 1966 for best documentary, and top awards at the Canadian Forestry Film Festival 1969 and the International Festival of Forest Fire Control Films in 1969.”
