"Each summer, Sweden welcomes competitors from over twenty-one countries to the five day 'O-Ringen' competition - the largest Orienteering Meet in the world. Filmed during the 1973 meet in Rättvik, this film follows young and old of all sizes and levels of ability as they wind their ways, with map and compass in hand, along prescribed routes through the countryside. As well, it reports on the daily events of the competition and gives a good picture of its general organization. A motivational film, What Makes Them Run? is particularly suited for showing by fitness groups, recreational services and high schools."
