"This film chronicles the construction phase of Inco's nickel development on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. Sequences include interviews with H. Singawinata, Assistant Managing Director of P.T. International Nickel Indonesia, P.C. Jessup Jr., Managing Director, and R. Musu, Mine Manager; a brief economic, religious, and political history of Indonesia including shots of Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, and Christian places of worship; a look at the Indonesian people at work at their crafts including weaving, silverwork, dancing, and shipbuilding; and a look at Inco's involvement in the Indonesian nickel mine development, including shots of early exploration, construction of roads, towns, and a power plant, employee training, and a comparison to Inco's Thompson, Manitoba development. Also included is a sequence on Inco's Canadian operations in which scientists determine the processing method to be used on the Indonesian laterite ores, and a sequence on the March 31, 1977 opening ceremony of the project with a speech by Bapak Soeharto, President of the Republic of Indonesia. Indonesian speeches are translated into English by a voice-over narrator."
