"A record of the 1956 Canadian Open Golf Championship, held at Beaconsfield Golf Club near Montreal. The winner was 24 year old Doug Sanders, an amateur from Miami, Florida. Gordon Brydson of Toronto won the Rivermead Cup for being the top Canadian finisher. Because of his amateur status, Doug Sanders was not awarded any prize money. the $2400.00 first prize money was given to the 2nd place man, Dow Finsterwald."
