"Designed to illustrate the broad scope of the naval officer's profession, this film accompanies three sub-lieutenants on their first seagoing appointment. Their ship, H.M.C.S. Columbia, makes a north Atlantic rendez-vous with a task group. The new officers are participants in a contest of skills as the Columbia, the carrier Bonaventure and a squadron of destroyer escort seek out and "destroy" an "ememy" submarine."
