"Features current news items such as; a fire in Quebec which leaves 3000 homeless, major flooding in Manitoba, demonstrations by B.C. Doukhabors, the Navy and Airforce being dispatched to Korea, the University of New Brunswick's 150th anniversary, the Toronto vs. Winnipeg Grey Cup game and the first diesel engines used by the CNR."

"News compilation. Sequences on: Exercise Sweetbriar in the Arctic; the unveiling of the CF-100 interceptor with Brooke Claxton and Air Marshall Curtiss present; the great Rimouski fire, with footage of the ruins and reconstruction; and the Prime Minister at Rimouski. The Red River flood in Manitoba is shown with views of flooded Winnipeg suburbs; army personnel building dikes; and refugees of the flood being evacuated, fed, etcetera. Doukhobors protest by burning down their homes and disrobing. Three destroyers and RCAF transports leave for the Korean War. Prime Minister St. Laurent speaks on the subject. The 150th anniversary of the University of New Brunswick is celebrated by a convocation. The RCAF receives its colours from Governor General Alexander on Parliament Hill. A sequence on the funeral of W.L.M. King is followed by a series of clips on sports and entertainment including: curling; a dog derby; the Dominion Boxing Championships; a diving championship; a tuna tournament; and a football game between the Argos and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Diesel locomotives are inaugurated on Canadian railways. Elsewhere, a freightyard and a pipeline are shown being built. The ICAO building in opened in Montreal. The Dominion Premiers and the Prime Minister meet in Ottawa to discuss the construction of the Trans Canada Highway. Robert Winter speaks briefly. A mechanized horse is built by a hobbyist and rides the streets. Sequences are shown on a railway strike; pickets at work; and immobilized transport. The final series of shots shows the Special Brigade in training and leaving for Korea."
