"Compilation comprises: The New Look in women's fashion introduces long skirts. Scenes of a record snow storm. A representative group of Canadians receive the first Canadian citizenship certificates at the Supreme Court of Canada. Winner of the amateur European and World's figure skating championships, 18-year-old Barbara Ann Scott, is welcomed in her native Ottawa, followed by scenes from her successful defence of her North American title in Ottawa with Governor General Viscount Alexander presenting the trophy. Special edition of postage stamps to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone; shots of his Brantford, Ontario house and various telephones are shown. Dominion Ski Championships at Mont Ste-Anne, Quebec. Montreal twins Rhoda and Rhona Wurtele are seen; also seen is Tom Mobraaten of Vancouver. Children stage an unusual strike to protest the increase from 5 cents to 8 cents in the price of chocolate bars. The Stanley Cup: The Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Montreal Canadiens, 2 to 1. President Harry S. Truman of the United States pays a state visit to Canada and addresses Parliament. The Marian Congress, held in Ottawa's Lansdowne Park, celebrates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Ottawa diocese; Jack Cardinal McGuigan, the Papal Legate, is seen. An important oil strike at Leduc, Alberta; Governor General Viscount Alexander is seen visiting the area. The Canadian National Exhibition, closed since 1941, is re-opened by Prime Minister W.L. Mackenzie King. The CNE 10 mile marathon swim is won by Ben Gazel of Toronto. The Miss Canada beauty contest, held in Hamilton, is won by Margaret Marshall of Toronto; she is also seen returning from Atlantic City after placing third in the Miss America contest. The Mr. Canada contest for bodybuilders, held in Montreal. The winner is René Léger. The Grey Cup: In Toronto, the Toronto Argonauts beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 10 to 9. The Santa Claus parade in Toronto."
