"The film is about the island of Jamaica, showing the history going back to Christopher Columbus and portraying the exciting days of the Spanish Main when it became a hiding place for buccaneers after it was taken by the British from the Spaniards in 1655. The film discusses how three million slaves brought from Africa and freed in 1834 made possible the development of the sugar and rum industries. The operation of a distillery is also shown."
