"This film examines a pre-trades training program for women who wish to enter non-traditional professions in skilled trades such as carpentry, plumbing, welding, automotive mechanics, microelectronics, television repair and tool inspection. The program emphasizes selfassertiveness and how women's fears of such trades is conditioned and can be unlearned. Self-assertiveness is taught through self-defence and fitness exercises, role-playing and mock interviews. Women already in skilled trades relate their experiences, and there is an emphasis on women teaching women. Instructors feel that industry will accept women—there is, in fact, a suggestion that women are often better workers."
